Hi all,

We are exploring redundancy options for our G650 \ S8500 systems and would like to know if it is possible to mirror what we currently have to create a high availability solution. Our Avaya vendor says that we would need to purchase dual 8700s and an additional G650 to achieve this. Is is possible to add an additional 8500 without having to upgrade to the 8700s?

Thanks.

S8500 supports ESS. Wonder if you get another S8500, and G650 and do ESS...

Just a thought.

Thanks,

There are major differences here...

First off.

The S8500 / ESS solution only provides redundancy to the processor. You can't have redundant IPSI's with dual control networks with an S8500 solution.

The S87xx solution allows each server to have a connection to each IPSI and allows you to set them up in CM as redundant.

Second

The fail over time on an ESS Solution is much more pronounced compared to S87xx.

The S87xx solution provides for instant failover. The end users do not see the interchange.

The ESS requires a port network re-set for the ESS to gain control of the port networks.

sjforcum,

Thanks for clarifying. Would it be possible to have 2 IPSIs in one gateway for redundancy?

Thanks.

bmquiroz,

If you want 2 IPSI's it's REQUIRED to have a PN of 2 G650 gateways. So the answer to your question is no.

Thanks for the reply. Just out of curiosity what is a PN?
