We currently have 4 Avaya G650 Media Servers on our network. Each G650 has two batteries in them sharing the load. They are connected to our UPS. We have two IPSI's in two of the 4 gateways. My question is, does anyone know what would cause all 8 batteries to lose power at the same time and then come back on? Is there any type of log on the gateways themselves that could tell me anything?

I was not aware that a G650 could contain batteries. A G650 can have 2 power supplies, is this what your saying lost power..?

You had a loss of power. Your UPS flaked out or someone tripped on the power strip plugging the gateways into the UPS.

you can plug them in ac or dc...
but there are no batteries you use.

Those are just power supplies, not batteries. One needs an external UPS for battery backup.

The G650's have redundant power supplies, 1 will run the G650, the other is in case of failure.

You can try typing "display init causes" to see if it shows any cause of the reset. But it sounds like a UPS issue to me also.

It sounds like you have your G650's connected to a raw live feed, meaning you don't have any UPS connected to clean the electrical signal the G650's receive. The power supplies in G650's are very sensitive to spikes in the electrical signal and this is why all 8 of them tripped at the same time. They basically turned themselves off to protect themselves and the rest of the boards in the G650's from being fried by un-clean electricity.

Get a 32AMP circuit breaker connected to a C-Class RCD Breaker installed with a decent UPS. This will clean the electrical signal and stop them tripping.
