Hello Everyone,

We are expanding our branch office to have more than 255 users. The G450 that is on the site has:

ip: 10.140.50.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

The DHCP scope is 10.140.20.50/254

We are adding another subnet : 10.140.70.xx

What do we need to do in order to avoid any audio issues. I had a site before and we had to extens the DHCP scope and then changed the subnet Mask on the gateway to 255.255.255.252 to accommodate the other subnets.

Let me know if you need more details.

Thank you for your help

Our environment is all H.323 phones (9620, 9650, 9611, 9641). There has been some mention of going to SIP endpoints. Has anyone been through this process? How much headache are we in for on this process? We are on CM6.2, have Session and System Manager, and HTTP/HTTPS file servers as well.

You can and should create vlans on your switch and apply 802.1p QOS there is no reason why you cant change your subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 , this will give more ip addresses than you will ever require , and as mentioned as long as you have the correct qos on your switch and segregate the voice and data traffic you will experience no voice issues.

You will have to change the gateway , CM , adjuncts to reflect the change modify your dhcp scope for the phones and reboot them.

Thanks Montzummer. our network team actually created a new vlan for voice besides the one already there. so that location will have 2 voice vlans which are separate from data vlans. The thing is they are not doing a DHCP scope increase but they went ahead and created a new vlan instead and the subnet Mask for the new vlan is 255.255.255.0.So if the subnet Mask on the switch is 255.255.255.0 do I still need to change it on the MG?
I already added the new IP range to the Ip network map.

Thanks again for your help.

you only need to change the subnet on the GW if it is not 255.255.255.0 on the vlan you are concerned with.

when you mention the 255.255.255.252 subnet , that sounds to me like the services port as that subnet locks you down to a select few IP , is that what you meant?

I mentioned 255.255.255.252 because in a previous job we were running of IP on one site and we increased our DHCP range so instead of 24 bit it was 22 bit so the gateway was on 255.255.255.0 and I had to change it to 255.255.255.252. We had some audio issues then because the new subnets could not communicate with the ones already established.

Thank you again for your help.
