I have a G450 that has run out of space for adding announcements. I want to use the compact flash drive from a retired S8730 and install it on the G450 for more space. Can I use the the compact flash drive? Do I need to format the compact flash before inserting it or can I insert it and format it in the gateway?

Announcements are loaded into RAM. So you're buying an antique DDR1 SODIMM of ECC RAM too

Back up your announcements first.
Then you need to remove 256MB RAM and Purchase/install a 512MB RAM in Slot 1. Do not use slot #2 and try to double up this will cause your gateway to reboot. Add CF and go to ch gateway x and select y on CF.
Then do show platform mother board on gateway to verify 512MB and Serial Numbers and any fault messages.
Once you install, pull announcements from gateway and review; the old CF will still have old announcements, you can remove or keep, that is up to you.
