Hi,

Can someone please explain to me how to use and program the Audio Port on the G430.

Thanks...

I have never been able to figure it out, the idea was, it was supposed to be a Music On Hold audio input, but there is no doumentation on what port # it would be, to use it via the "change system features" and assign the input to the as a MOH port.

I think it's one of those 'features' that was added, without too much thought put into it. The hardware design people not communicating to the software guys...

I believe so...I've tried to find documentation on it, but it always relates MOH on the gateway announcements.

Mitch,

I did some more research and I found out that this Audio Port is for future use. I know that you are as surprised as I am...jejeje...

joe8413, I am not surprised at all, nothing AVAYA does surprises me any more, I guess I am too jaded :(

"future use" sounds like they had a "failure to communicate" (funny for a telecom mfr), between hardware development and the software guys, as I guessed.

Mitch and Joe:

In keeping with an actual fax server manual I saw a few years ago, you need to use the acronym for 'failure to communicate' - FTC.

Anyway, I thought it was strangest use of an acronymn I had ever seen.

Matt...

Does anybody know then how to add a MOH file if you can not use the G430 Audio port and there are no analogue ports available on a stand alone site?

Enable the on-board integrated announcer card.
change slot v9 to announcements in the gateway config. "Ch media x" and then enable it "enable ann 1v9". Add your announcement location " add ann xxxx".
Record to the location, then change music source.
Varies if you are tennant partitioned.

Nick44 is correct. I believe when you add the ann you have to indicate that it is integ-mus as the ann type. Then in the change music add it as a port under 1v9.

Are you able to put a wav file in as opposed to me adding a personal recorded announcemt for hold music?

I think so, but you need the VAL manager software that comes with ASA.
I did play with it for a bit but as it was not a task I had to do and I was just interested I didn't try too hard.

There are limitations as to how many minutes of audio you can have, and how many simultaneous channels can be accessed.
Off the top of my head it's 15 minutes and 5 channels, but check the gateway documentation for a solid answer.
