G3csi registering with S8xxx ?

I have a customer who has a definity G3csi running CM 2.1
They want to upgrade to CM6 (spending the least money of course)and want to know if they can still use their existing G3csi.

My questions: Can the Definity G3csi register with Gateways such as a S8500 or S8800.

Secondly can IPSIs be installed in the G3csi or even an S8400.

No, a G3CSI canot "register" to other newer systems.

No, IPSI's cannot be used on a G3CSI

the SIPI (TN8412AP) is used on the S8400, their G3CSI could be upgraded to an S8400/SIPI (Processor is replaced with the S8400B, tone/clock is replaced with the SIPI), that is the only way the old cabinet and TN circuit packs can really be used. That is an inexpesive way to get it down. The S8400 supports up to (5) H.248 gateways that can rregister to it. to support any type of VoIP you would also need to an in a TN2302AP, for IP phones/H323 trunks/and to get the internal CMM (Audix) working.

Avaya will no longer support upgrades with the old G3 cabinets. They can re-use TN ckt packs in a G650 gateway to reduce costs, the G650 is not very expensive, it's the IPSIs that cost. The plus is you don't have to recable, the G650 uses the same amphynal the G3 uses to go to the wall field.

I will bare this solution in mind also. this was the way we intended going towards. thanks a mil guys would run both options by the customer.
