Does anyone have this up and running.
Obviously the documentation is clear for TFTP and 46xx but I was hoping to run HTTP for 96xx.
It's easy to enable the HTTP server on G350 but then what?
How do you get the 96xxupgrade and 46xxsettings and the 96xx .bin files into a directory that defaults for HTTP?
Or can you set a directory for HTTP somehow?

I dropped all of the appropriate files into phone-imageA,B,C,and D and got the "bad file server" error.

Any ideas folks?

you need to move it from ftp directory to tftboot using mv command in bash.

OK-but we are talking about the G350 not the S8300 correct?
All the proper files live in my S8300 TFTP boot directory but the 96xx phones only understand HTTP,correct?
There is no HTTP directory that I am aware of.
There are o "mv" commands in the G350.

Remember I am talking about the G350 serving and upgrading 96xx phones-Is that what you are referring to?

I understand 46xx and TFTP-my question refers to 96xx and HTTP-presumably from the G350.

I hope that clarifies.

Thanks for the input

to my knowledge - G350 cannot be an HTTP server, only TFTP.

The 8300 processor - if in the 350 - can be an HTTP server as well as a TFTP server

So does the S8300 when enabled use the TFTPBOOT directory for http requests?

I'll play with this and see if I can figure it out.

Gotta love Avaya's lack of documentation.

Maybe if I go to one of their 3500 dollar a week labs someone will give me the right doc!

If you want the IP Phone firmware for the 8300, there is an RPM download for that on the page - use that instead of the ZIP that you usually use. There is one for 9600's and the 4600's.

use the download page and put a checkmark on the "install this file on the local server"

The RPM is a Redhat Package Manager file that contains the information that Linux can use to install files to their correct places.

victor5908, yes, if you install one of the "rpm" packages, the files unzip in the /tftpboot directory, you can install the 4600 package AND the 9600 package, at the same time, to support both models. just put your "46xxsettings.txt" file in the /tftpboot directory, and setup your DHCP Option 242 string to use "TLSSRVR=x.x.x.x", as the S8300 supports HTTP on port 81, and HTTPS on port 411 for IP Phones, so the old "HTTPSRVR" line doesn't work too well. Once your phones have been upgraded to 9600 R2.0, there is a new option you can use on the Option 242 string, mainly "HTTPPORT=81", then you could go back to using HTTP.. but 9600 R1.50 doesn't understand "HTTPORT=", so it will only look for the files on port 80, and fail...

P.S. Also make sure you open port 81 and 411 on the S8300 firewall

hope these hints help,

OK.Thanks-
I had the correct file downloaded using the install option but I will need to set up DHCP for "TLSSRVR".
Hopefully I can try that today.

Great information.

Thanks again-

OK-My phone looks to the S8300 and sees the R2 upgrade filed but almost immediately rolls to "contacting call server" and logs in.
I have the HTTP port set to 81 in my 46xx.settings file.

Is this correct or am I misreading something?

R1.50 or R1.55 doesn't understand "HTTPORT=81", thats why you HAVE to use "TLSSRVR=", to get to R2.0 to upgrade...

OK-I still don't understand why this won't work.

What are your recommendations for using a Windows IIS HTTP?

That is what we always use anyway.I was just trying to have a procedure down to use the Avaya server/gateway if neccessary.

Will the default of port 80 work for Windows IIS?
