i have a customer that has four G250 gatesway configured for SLS so there are no S8300 servers local to the gateways...
is there a way to untilize another S8300 server on the network somewhere to use its TFTP function so that i can update the firmware of these sites remotely.

The answer is YES, you can use another S8300 server to provide the TFTP functions for FW download.

However, you should use an FTP server instead. It is a much better utility than TFTP for this purpose. There are many FTP server utility that you can just download for free... one that comes to mind would be 3CDaemon. Once you have got this FTP server software, install it on your PC and use that as the FTP server to "push" FW to the remote Gateways.

The command on your Gateway would be --> copy ftp SW_imageA(or B) <filename> <IP to FTP>
where (SW_imageA or SW_imageB) is to the non current bank you want to load the image to.. use the command --> show image version – and look for non current bank to copy file to.

yeah, i know all the cli commands and i have even pushed SW image files to the other lsp's on the network, upon further reveiw and using the tftp method i have come to realize that this just takes alot longer than i had expected and i geuss that is due to the use of the tftp and the connectivity between sites..
when i was first attempting the file transfer it would show me that the file was writing to the boot bank but it just seemed that it was hung there, today i let it run after trying it with the tftp server on the CM disc and it worked but took its sweet time... thanks for the reply, i guess i just have to learn to be more patient next time..
