Intermittently, we are having a problem with our old G1 system. The T1 will just drop for 5 or 6 minutes and then restore itself. I have viewed the error log when this happens and I see several DS1 and SYNC errors. My clocking for my system is coming from the Tone/Clock card (TN768). But it appears my system is losing sync. I have changed the DS1 card and the port that it resides in, but to no avail. I am thinking about replaces the Tone/Clock card, but I don't know how to test to see if there is a problem with it. Can anyone help?

Is there a change synchronization option on a G-1? Check this page to insure the T-1 is in sync. Wisdom is Knowledge

Is this a new problem on an exsisting T1 or a new T1? You might try looking at the programming on the T1, example AMI vs B8ZF.. If the setting with telco and PBX don't match, there could be a sync error.. I have seen it.. This usually happens when alot of traffic is on the span. Looks and run clean when there is no traffic. Also, check the termination of the T1 cable, could be as simple as a bad cable end... Also could be a flakey CSU...

Lots to look at here.
