I just had a fast question as to which codec to select on an IP set off-prem on a BCM50. I know someone had told me to select the 729 rather than leaving it automatic, but as to this newer selection which one is better or what's the difference? Or, is it better to leave it on automatic?

Thanks!

I am guessing automatic/default would be the best choice unless maybe troubleshooting.

My Dads 1120e in London works fine in default mode off my BCM in Canada.

Not sure what you mean by "newer selection"

Automatic works fine, i have remote ip sets to places that you never could imagine that and IP Set would work...

Yep, Auto is the best option. The only problem you might get is if the remote extension shares an internet connection that is constant use with limited bandwith available. I've had problems with bad speech when my previous ISP was used for lots of file transfers and only having a download speed of around 3 megs and 500k upload did cause problems at times.

As the internet is getting better with increased data speeds, then this will be less of a problem. My current ISP works fine now and I don't have any worries.
