I'm having trouble certifiying some splices and looking for some ideas. I did 156 splices on new unused cable and had 2 fails via DTX1800 respliced and all passed big headroom, all systimax terra cable and pigtails. Relocated 2 cables already used, spliced, tested, most failed, changed electrodes, respliced, same failed +- .02db change. Relocated used cables are osp break-out by varied manufacturers, pig tails are systimax terraspeed. Had some trouble with pistoning of breakout glass between cleaver and splicer but wouldn't send splice to heater oven over projected loss of .05db. It was easy to pull out and easy to pull in; total lentgh 1100'-1400'. Got OTDR coming out tomorrow just looking for ideas.

Cleaning procedures before testing? You'll want wet then dry, both.

Which splicer did you use for this? I have had issues using single camera splicers in the past. Dual is preferred.

May be bad strands, systemax or not. Install practices are everything. Need more info.

Looked at it with OTDR and didn't see any major problems in cable. Talked to rep and going with changing memory of cable that has been in place for 4-5 years has stressed the glass. Repulling soon, thanks
