There are two things happening on my system at present.

1. A file called ~DFABE9 can be found in my Windows/Temp folder. It appears to create itself on start up and is
7.00Kb(7,168bytes) in size. Can anyone tell me what it is for!

I can only delete it in DOS. The last time I did this it was called ~DF9BD8; also I can't find what it is associated with.

2. The other new kid on the block is a warning message stating that "The store calling card information may be corrupt. Would I like to reset to the default values". This is the first time I have ever seen this one, has anyone any ideas?

those tempt files are normal, the system creates them between swap files, so essencially you'll find alot of these. as for #3 I am not sure.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that a file called 4DMAIN.exe, which is a driver for a Dexin scroll mouse wants to go online each time I do. Is this a common thing for this type of mouse. I only found out when I installed a firewall.

It's possible that 4dmain.exe is one of those advertising spyware programs. They watch and report everything you do on the internet, if that's what it is. You can check your system by running Ad-Aware and OptOut. You can find these apps at the links listed below:
(OptOut)
(Ad-Aware)

They will identify and remove any spyware stuff on your machine. And now back to The Lord of the Rings

Thanks for your help

you were right, 4dmain is for the scroll, zoom feature of the mouse. At least thats what it is supposed to be for, you could check by doing a search of you drive for it and then checking the version under properties.

I used to have it on my system when I used an A4 tech mouse.

I dont know why it is logging on tho......?

Perhaps to do an on-line product registration?
