When I do a straight (constrained to x or y) transparency in rev B (i.e. select object, select gradient tool, click and hold, press ctrl to constrain to x/y axis and drag) it acts VERY strangely. It seems like the transparency is applied backwards or to some other area.. If I apply it just slightly to one side, making the line anything but straight it works perfectly. WHY???

what kind of processor are you using? If you are using AMD, I can almost bet that's the cause. AMD's do not have very strong MathCoProcessors... which is what is needed for tools like that in photo-paint and in draw (more so in draw) also, its helpfull to have a higher cache on the processor (512 preffered)
