Hello

Till now we used the ARCserve2000, and we made once a week a fullbackup and on the other day a incremental (one Job). Now I would like to use the same schema, also with the Exchange Agent. There I would like to make a Brick-Level-Backup. I found a option to change from full to incremental, but then I have to make to different job, one for the fullbackup and one for the incrementalbackup. is this correct, or is there a way to make just one job for both.

thank you for the help.

When backing up Exchange through the exchange client you don't use the 'incremental/differential' options like you use them on file systems because you are not dealing with archive bits here but with archive logs. Right-click on the backup agent, choose options and decide how you want to configure your Exchange agent backup from here.

thank you for your help. but it's still not clear for me. I wan't to make a fullbackup on Monday of the brick-level and on Tu-Su just a incremental.
if I choose the fullbackup option, then the agent makes everday I fullbackup or not?

which option do I have to take??

When backing Exchange up through the agent, this agent will backup the Exchange databases and transaction logs ( full ) or the transaction logs only ( differential/incremental ).
Depending on the options you set the logs will be truncated
( full / incremental ) or not ( copy / differential ).
Backing up through the agent has nothing to do with regular file backups. It is just that the agent requests Exchange to put databases/transaction logs in backup mode which are transferred to ARCserve. With restoring it is the other way around.

Hope this is more clear

I have noticed that if i use a rotation job. then it will properly do the logs based upon inc/diff terms. And during a full backup it will go ahead and purge.
