Full-Duplex-Ethernet, 4-Port-LAN-Card

Hi Sniffer-Experts,

I have big problems sniffing on a full-duplex 100 MBit-link over a full-duplex copper splitter and the 4-port-Sniffer-LAN-card. The protocol distribution on the console shows only the protocols known as standard protocols, but i have configured some other protocols like Citrix Metaframe (TCP1494) or MS-Printing (TCP9100). But these protocols are not shown in the protocol distr. But when i open a captured file, then these protocols are in this file and the protocol distr. shows them.

Can anyone help me, why the online-monitoring is not functional and so on also the sniffer-reporter ??

Hi Frank,
Unfortunately any protocols added (Tools, Option, Protocols tab), will not show up in any of the Sniffer monitoring functions, (as you've found out). They will (like you've seen) be displayed in the capture screens (Expert/decode/matrix etc).
With regard to Sniffer Reporter; any protocols added should and do, show up in the relevant sections of the Sniffer Reporter reports.

Sorry, it might be to late...
It should work. What you have to do is reboot the unit, to validate the new ports.
At least in versions 4.5/4.7 it works.

4 Port card -then most probably u are using Sniffer Distributed Probe....if this is the case the restart the agent by rebooting the box or by .... 'net stop dsagentsrv' from command prompt and start it bu 'net start dsagentsrv'
