'm looking for a way to create an area on my site for clients and others to ftp me files. My host has anonymous ftp which I could use, perhaps linked from a page which has a password to enter.
But then the client would have to use an ftp client, etc. I'm dealing with unsophisticated users. I need a simple, web-based system where they can just choose a file or two, enter a password and press upload. Ideally it would send me an email to let me know the file is there with a link to it.

a good example is the which allows users to log on and upload files, then the publication receives an email notifying them to download.

could anyone help?

How difficult would it be for me to setup a directory on my website which allows clients to log on though say explorer and connect to a specifc folder (shared folder for clients to upload and download, without effecting any other part of my site).Once they connect it would then show up on there desktop (Mac) or drive (PC)?

my initial thought was to create an area on my site which would enable my client to logon with a username and password once on they would click an upload button for them to browse and locate that file. My only problem then would be if they needed to upload a few files they would have to repeat this each time.

having a shared volume on there desktop will enable them to drag and drop multiple files accross..

thanks for the link..

u can simply create FTP account for each client...and perhaps send them URLs to their own directory...
