FTP Upload Fails

I've been pounding my head against this one all night.

I'm trying to upload a web dev project to my server, and it's failing when trying to upload. Downloading works fine, as well does changing directories and deleting files. When I try to upload it will upload the first few KB and then stall. After about 30 seconds the client will drop the connection with a timeout error. The filesize has no bearing on this issue.

I'm using SmartFTP 2.0 and FileZilla 2.2, connecting to multiple different servers. My home network is Bellsouth DSL with the modem running to a Belkin router. I've tried running in passive mode, and active mode with all of the ports forwarded to my desktop, no go. The firewall is disabled. Here's the kicker: OTHER pcs on my network can upload files just fine, using SmartFTP in passive mode.

This same PC worked fine at my college, which is where I was until 3 nights ago.

It seems like it's something simple, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Good info.

That first link prompted me to go back and check things again: as it turns out, I can NOT use FTP from other clients on my network. I made the mistake of testing the upload with a 1K file, which works because the first 1 K of any file will transfer, but it times out past that. Durr, dumb mistake. So now I know that it's my network, and I suspect my router.

Since I have control of the server and can set up my FTP accounts to have SSH login access, I'm just going to switch to SFTP using FileZilla for now. I can probably get used to using FZ, as it seems to have most of the same features as SmartFTP.

What I might do later, when I'm not terribly busy, is demote my Belkin Wireless from being the router to just a WAP and switch, and give router duties back to the Bellsouth modem. I did change the network topology around a few months back, but I'm not sure exactly when this issue started
