Hi,

We have a server through EV1 which is used to back up customer data, every night the data is backed up to 3 locations the sever being 1, 30 days worth of data is stored and at the the start of each month the previous month is overwritten....

The server itself runs windows web server 2003 and does nothing other than have ftp running for the purposes of the above.

As the files are getting bigger I want to see how the bandwidth is coping, we have caclulated it at around 800GB per month and the server comes with 1000GB.

What can I install on the server or is there somewhere I can see the bandwidth useage this month?

Thanks for any help.

Lee

You don't need to install anything, because you can use "Perfmon" (performance monitor) to gather stats for many server functions.

Just type "perfmon" in the run command and click the "+" sign on the Performance Monitor tool bar to add counters. In the "Add Counters" window, under the "Performance Object:" drop-down menu, select "FTP Service" and choose any of the items in the square window below it.

Note: Inside an Active Directory Domain, you can "monitor" from a remote server to save precious resources on that FTP box.

Cheers, that has been running the last couple of days and is working fine.
