Hi
I am new to FreeBSD. I am moving completely away for win32 and going to FreeBSD. I would like to know what you gents recommend as an FTPd. I would like something that provides the best speed with uncompromised security and fairly easy to configure. I Know FreeBSD comes with a native FTPd but have not used it much. Any suggestions?

Thanks

proftpd, at /usr/ports/ftp/proftpd is my recommendation, although honestly, making security as a requirement for FTP is kind of begging the question. FTP by default is not secure. If you want encrypted FTP, then you should just have the sshd daemon running, which will handle connections in "sftp" mode.

If you are not familiar with Secure FTP, it is essentially a way to tunnel FTP-style data transfer over the SSH (secure shell) protocol. It doesn't require an FTP daemon, relying on the same sshd daemon that Unix users need for regular SSH. (If you are not familiar with SSH, basically it is the secure alternative to telnet)

we use vsftp and like it.
stands for Very Secure FTP
