I need to configure the FTP daemon in AIX to use "binary" mode as the default mode of file transfer. How can go about doing that?

I am using AIX 4.3.3.

Thank you.

Hi,

As far as I know, the transfer mode is initiated by the client, not by the server.
Try to set it up on the client side.

This is done on the client's side. Once connected type "bin" for binary mode, type "ascii" for ascii mode..

Martin,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, the FTP session is initiated by an API call of IBM Enterprise Information Portal 8.1. It is not possible to set the mode of transfer from the client side as in other typical FTP sessions. I know there is a directive that could set for the FTP daemon in Redhat Linux to use "binary" as the default mode of transfer. As such, I am just wondering if there is a similar directive or parameter that I could set for the FTP daemon in AIX.

You advice, please.
