I would like to automate a transfer from a Sun Solaris box to an NT server as part of a script.

I have tried to run ftp manually, typing

ftp (ip address of NT server)

but get the message 'Connection refused'

Is the problem at the unix or NT end?

Possibly the NT end. Try checking whether the ftp services daemon is running and that the user you're trying to ftp as has the necessary permissions. HTH.

This is a NT problem. To enable ftp on a NT server you will have to install and configure IIS (Internet Information Services). I know its like installing Apache just to get ftp but thats the way NT works.
If you install IIS, make sure to apply the patches for "code RED" virus.

Thanks for the replies

I have decided to use ftp from the NT server and 'pull' the file from the unix box. I can automate the job via Scheduled Tasks.
