Hi,

I am using FTP to copy across files on SAMBA drive.

A usergroup has got 'Full Control' permission on this drive.

When i FTP a file on this drive, same usergroup gets 'Special Access(R)' for this file.

Because of this users are getting 'ReadOnly' access to FTPed file.

Any answer?

Thanks in advance,
Mahesh

Ok, don't know if this is of any use or not, but here goes.

I'm assuming that if you're using a SAMBA drive then it is a Linux/Unix machine you're writing to. In which case, check on that machine the default permissions for file creation for the user(s). I'm thinking it's something like this...to you you're copying files to the directory, to the OS you're creating files in that directory and it's changing permissions to the default creation permission.

Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

Its not very clear if you are copying FROM a Linux/Unix drive or copying TO a Linux/Unix drive?

Either way it would be worth looking at the file permissions on the drive & changing them to a more accesible permission.
i.e.

cd to the directory
chmod 770 "Folder Name"

Either way it should hopefully resolve the issue.

FAM,

I am copying from Windows(Workstation) to SunOS server.

If i copy, it has appropriate rights .but when i FTP,it gets read-only status.
