Hi all,
On trying to change the the "domain naming master" from a Windows 2k DC to a new one I got this message:
"The request FSMO operation failed. The current FSMO holder could not be contacted" .... which prevent me from transfer the role. What are the actions to fix this problem? Thanks in advance
Leonardo

Make sure you can contact a global catalog from the DC you are trying to take the role to. Make sure you can ping the DC by it's ip address and by domain name. Make sure your DNS has the service records for your DC's (if I'm not mistaken, the service record for who is domain naming master is held by DNS) If all else fails, you can sieze the role, but there are consequences to siezing the role. Once siezed, the DC that previously held the role is not allowed back onto the domain.
