FSC 3917 for 9490 transport

Hello All,

I have two 9490 transport for a Storagtek 4410.

The following errors are been reported as below.

FSC 3917 Read sequencer detected errors in too many tracks to correct reported as Read error.


Does this look like a drive failure head ASM faulty or a
card failure.

Yes as i suspected either the Head Asm or TCK card.

The tapes used are different each day so this would rule the tapes out as error is there on different days.

Give the head and tape path a good "wet clean" and if that does not not do it, I would suggest replacing both the head and TCK. When shopping for parts, be sure the determine if you need the standard or "EE" head and TCK.
