Does anyone know if I can run my 2.8Ghz 800FSB, on the Intel 875P chipset if the board is running @ 533FSB. Because Intel reports that you need a BIOS update to run at 800FSB on their board, BUT how would I run the update if I can't boot the computer? Any advice or comment is welcomed.

Either install a compatible CPU to update the BIOS, or take the MB to a shop and have them do it.

I'd run it at 400. This will underclock the processor but you don't plan to do it for long.

how much do you think it would cost to have a store do that for me? Would it hurt my 800FSB CPU if I put it in and the MB was running at 533? last question... Can I Update the BIOS without a processor?

running your cpu @ a lower bus speed should not matter.. bus speed is the frequncy cycle that the electricity runs @.. if yours does 800 then 400 should be ok as this would push the cpu lees than the specified 800

the only right answer to "why?" is: "why not?"
