Using Access 97 on a web site I have been running happily for many years, no problems. Moved website to a new server and all of a suddent I'm getting random erorrs of

Microsoft ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver
Couldn't update; currently locked by user 'admin' on machine TIXLINK1

when I'm doing inserts or updates. Searched alta vista for "Microsoft ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver update currently locked by user admin on machine" and came up with thousands of pages that have clearly had the same error but no solutions!

Why has my site started to fail ....
Dear falstaff,

Search on msdn.microsoft.com instead of alta vista. There is a knowledge base article you should find that discusses this issue as it pertains to folder permissions etc.

Good luck
-pete

Hi

Thanks for the speed of response - I'd agree if the fault was all the time but this is random and on a database in a directory with everybody/all privileges - using the search at msdn yields nothing I'm afraid

I'll keep tearing my hair out ....
robert

Again - thanx for the response

I reckon I didn't know enough about LDB files ... now I think, thanx to both of you, I can

Humbled!

R

It is probably because your access files reside on another machine than your web server. I had the same problem.
