am using FP2003, but keep getting fed up with the junk FP puts in my HTML. Is there a way to run Frontpage where it does not put all its bits in, and PREVENTS you from using features during design instead of pointing it out on publishing. All I want is to make pages with posting forms (Submit) No fancy hover buttons. Thanks

Well, if you are planning to use the FrontPage form handler with the Send to: option, the server must have the extensions operating properly.

There are other components, such as Hit Counter, Search Page, Discussion Web etc that require the extensions.

If your host offers an optional form handler, you can still build the form with FrontPage and direct ti to the script.

If you are having trouble with a published form, give us the URLfor the problem page.

Hope I have been of some help,
Micheal Smith

Sorry for delay, and thanks your reply was of help.
My host site does have all the Frontpage extensions on, but my problem is when I am offline and trying to work on my PC, ie localhost. I have to find out how to get/install extensions locally. Any idea of complexity involved?, and where I can download possibly self installing extensions? Thanks again

I have never installed them on my PC, but here is a list of links regarding the extension downloads. Like I say I haven't set up a server, but I think you will have to install IIS and set up SMTP if you wish to use the PC to send mail via FP forms.

Someone can come along and correct me if I am off base. These KB articles offer additional links and instructions.

Hope I have been of some help,

If you are running frontpage, presumably, you have office. There is another development IDE in office called MSE7 (it might be something beginning with MSE on yours). It is the Microsoft Script Editor based on Visual Studio 6. You will find it somewhere in the office installation. You could use that instead of FrontPage. It doesn't clobber your code and do really annoying things like replace <v:...> with some weird [if] statement.

Failing that, there is always notepad.

Does anyone know a link that works to get Frontpage 2003 extensions download, and a person on earth guide to installing. Microsoft links reach dead end, like many others. Thanks

Many thanks, however I did find this one. But if you click on the installation files download, Microsoft suggests searching the site, link is dead I would presume. Getting fed up with Microsoft, get this time and time again. Take money and leave you to fend for yourself. Thanks again

There was talk a while back about discontinuing the FPSE downloads.

I think MS wants everyone to switch to Expressions Web Designer.

Apparently the first to go will be extensions for Linux.

I remember a post maybe a month or two or three ago about them not offering the FPSE downloads anymore, but I don't remember exactly when that was do to happen. Maybe it already has.

If this is the case, maybe by popular demand, they will reappear.

Hope I have been of some help,

Thanks, confirms my disbelief in MS. Still happily selling Frontpage then pulling the dog collar again for more money. How tactical pulling out on Linux first?? Many thanks again.
