Is there a way to export the Frontpage Extensions on a Windows 2000 server? Reason being, I need to re-install the 2000 extentions because they are no longer working at all. If i apply permissions, they don't work. I have a Windows 2000 standard server with Frontpage 2000 extensions on IIS 5.0. There is 18Gb of data with over 180web within it. I don't want to spend 3 days working on permissions so I am searching for a more efficient way. If there is no choice, is there a way to collect the web permission with out having to do a screen shot of each Webs configuration through Frontpage?

Come on, someone has to have some insight. Even if i have to take a snapshot of it all again. Let me know. Thank you. :)

If the permissions are truly messed up then do you really want to export them?

I had a similar issue with a much smaller server (12 sites) and I recently had to reset all of the permissions.

What seems to have worked to me was to create a new site and then point the home directory to a copy of the existing site. Then I reapplied the extensions and recalculated the web. On a few sites I had to remove anonymous access and then allow anonymous access for the permissions to fully reset.

Not a very elegent fix but it did work. I'm moving to the option of not using frontpage just for this painfull reason.

No envy from me on this case.

Tim, you have a good point there. I ended up re-install and re-applying all the permission to the web. It took about 20hrs of work but everything seems to work fine now. You figured someone would make a tool for this. Also, i wish i could convert / move away from the Front Page web, but i have many users that are very computer illiterate that coudln't handle FTP sessions and such. Otherwise, i would migrate.

Thank you for the responses. :)

Hi, very sorry to see this post too late... I had the same job to do and what I did is (if it may serve for another)

1- publish all the webs to the other server using frontpage
2- copy all roles.ini from \\sc1wei2\C$\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\50\W3SVC1 to the same location on the other server.
3- Check server health with the checkbox "reapply security settings" checked.

Very sorry, I was in a rush this week, didn't have the time to read the forum.
