Front-End Nortel with IPO to Utilize Digital/Analog Phones

Customer has an old Nortel Option 81 with a significant number of digital and analog phones. They would like front-end the Nortel with an IPO to deploy SIP Trunks and IP Phones. Over time, they would like to transition the digital and analog phones to IP phones on the IPO. During the transition, they want to tie the IPO to the Nortel via a couple T1s. Has anyone attempted this? Thoughts?
 
It can be done. If the Nortel has the proper QSIG software packages you'll get name and number passed between the IPO and the 81C. You'll need voice networking licenses on the IPO to get QSIG capability.
 
Take a look at the E-Metrotel UCX. You are able to reuse all of your existing Nortel Meridian digital telephones, and supports SIP trunks and SIP phones. The phones will work just like the way they currently do, so your users will not have to be retrained. Take a look:
