Hello All!
I'm in the process of converting to Access 2003. I have converted the front end to this, but am still linked to the Access 97 backend. This is a very active database and can not be shut down for any lenght of time.

My problem is that while I am updating the forms, reports etc in the front end, it is running soo very slow! For example, it takes 26 seconds to save my changes; 18 seconds to move from selecting on object to selecting another etc etc.

I was wondering if this would be caused by the fact that we are using two different version for the front and back end.

Would anyone have any ideas to fix this problem. It's taking FOREVER to update this front end.

Thanks, in advance, for all you help.

In the FE when in database window, menu Tools -> Options ... -> General tab : uncheck all automatic corrections

Hope This Helps, PH.

Does each user have a copy of the front end on their local hard drive? If not, where do you hold the front end files?

Why don't create a copy of the be file and convert it to Access 2003 load it back to the server, once the converted copy is on the server, wait when no users are accessing the db and change the name of the copy to the file name of the actual be file name.
To find when there are no users logged in: try to delete the Access.Lockfile.9 (.ldb). It will give you a message that its unable to delete if there are any users logged in. All this should take only a few seconds.
Apply PHV's recommendation on the BE file too.
I'm assuming that you have access to the BE file and time is of the essence in your case.
