Hi there,
I have opened several photos, converted to greyscale tifs and placed on a page in PageMaker.
When I export to PDF in PageMaker and then open the PDF in Acrobat, I generate a Pitstop report which indicates that each of my photos are RGB format.
What happened?
Is this a Photoshop problem, PageMaker or Distiller?
Thanks in advance.

When you say you converted them to grayscale tiffs how did you do this?

sorry if you have done this but.

I would go image>mode GS then arrange in PS missing out PM all together.

Well that is unless it is part of a larger doccument.

If you need to use PM ou could try opening the tiffs back up and check that they are gs and not rgb.

I don't have photoshop in front of me atm but I am pretty sure that there are some settings when saving tiffs. check these also.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
Much appreciated.
I have confirmed in Photoshop that they are indeed greyscale tifs prior to posting this question, and once again after your reply.
Still baffled.
Yes indeed these tifs are needed within the PageMaker document. It is a 120 page document intended to be reproduced in black and white on newsprint. Text, line art and graphics.
However, the file will not RIP at my printer because it shows the tifs in RGB format.
Can you help?
Nancy

Check your distiller settings.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!

Thanks, but I did check my distiller settings. Got them from my printer. They are fine.
Still baffled.
