I'm real fuzzy with XML terminology. I know what I want to do, I just need help putting all the right words together.

I have a database and some code to dump data from it into an XML format that I designed. I don't have that XML format described any where; just my dump code. But it's real simple stuff, given that it's coming from a database you can imagine it's just a series of records with tags around the values I care about.

Now I want to import my XML dump into Word 2007. I imagine I need something to transform or describe my XML format into something Word 2007 can interpret so it can merge my XML into its XML. Right? What would that something be called? Are there any open source or freeware products to help me?

Many thanks in advance.

if you are using word 2007, you can directly import / open xml, it even lets you select a 'transform' xslt. this could all be done through COM / vba / vbscript etc etc

I have read that you can do this, but I have yet to see any actual examples of this anywhere. Is anyone aware of any examples of how to 'transform or describe my XML format into something Word 2007 can interpret so it can merge my XML into its XML?'

Thanks
