How do I configure exchange 5.5 to use a direct internet connection (broad band) We have just had broad band added to the server, which gives us a 24/7 internet feed.
We are still however dialling up to send our mail, how do I configure the server so that mail will use the broad band connection (I have this sorted for incoming).

We have setup the SMTP to send emails ok over ADSL. We just cannot receive emails and cannot enter the pop3 address without a dialup.

Are you sure you're receiving emails on the ADSL and if so how?

If you have ADSL you should have or request a fixed/static IP from your provider. Do you have the reroute incoming SMTP radial button checked on the routing tab of the IMC this should sought out your POP3 problem

The MX record for mail using our domain points to the router holding our IP, that has port forwarding set for 25 and 110 for the mail server. Its much the same as sending on the LAN, it doesn't need the IMC. How do you send? I can configure from scratch but figured that there must be another way to reconfigure the IMC to use DNS without a re-install. Any ideas?

In the Internet Mail Service Properties we went to the Connections tab and entered our smtp address for DEMON INTERNET in the 'Forward All Messages To Host' Box. This sent emails for us across ADSL.

Thanks, I had to check the DNS radial button, but it works. well done that man

Well I am also having a similar problem. But in my case I can send mails via the ADSL connection using the SMTP Server of my ADSL ISp. But havent been able to configure Exchange to retreive mails using the ADSl connection and still is dependent on a dial up connection. I have no idea how to go about swithing it away from dial up to ADSl connection ?? Any help will be highly appreciated.
