V7, after frigid start, sees cards, but never comes out of surrogate mode status of the cards. Tried doing a backup to file and restore, completed OK. When I do a system inventory, it just sees the processor, not any of the installed cards.

Try "Splitting" the clam shell and remove the strap near the "Super Cap" at the bottom.

Leave it off for about 10 seconds, then put it back.

See if that helps.

Thanks, will that intice another frigid start? I'm AT&T and the switch is from a small hotel. We want to redeploy so config will have to change. Running WinSPM 7.0.

That would me my next recommendation as well.

It could be a bad Processor.

I have had problems getting systems to reset when they were set for PERMANENT SQUARE, that is, the SWITCHES on the edge of the board are thrown.

Try setting them in the opposite manner as to how they are now and see if that helps.

Its under maintenance, slot, slot 00, demand test, touch the second button below PEEK twice, select Yes and it will erase all programming and set the switch back to defaults.

do you have another carrier to try , possible bad since you said you programed in surragate mode i don't see it 's the processor,/ did you check the power unit ?

OK, update: When I do an inspect, the merlin sees the boards. When I do a system inventory, the merlin only sees the processor.

Try installing the cards one at a time, and seeing if the processor sees them, this way you may be able to see a culprit card in the works. If you have an 016ETR begin WITHOUT that one.

Removed all cards but power supply and proocessor. Frigid started. Came up is surrogate mode. I have error 7803 "No boards available". Could the processor be bad, or is this a normal error for a non-populated system?

thanks

Well Sir, that's not what my lab machine does with no cards in it.

At this point, I did a System Erase, and it comes up just fine, but with no OPERATORS on the first screen.

With it in this set up (No cards) are you able to go into standard SPM and do a SYSTEM ERASE?

Menu > Maintenance > slot > enter ZERO > Demanmd Test > Press f3 twice > Yes

Have you done that????

Performed system erase, still get error 7803.

No Port Boards Available
Slot 00 Port 00

Code 7803

If you did the frigid start, with only the processor, then that's good. Now power down, add 1 card power up, do a board renumber and see if the Merlin sees it, if it does, add another card and renumber, if it doesn't, replace it with a differnt card and renumber.

franke

OK, get a new backplane, processor and Power supply. I now see cards that I insert. Exception: I have 9 012 with Ring Generator cards. The switch will not recognize any of these cards. Is there some programming I need to do to get these cards in the system? I don't think I have 9 bad cards.
