Hi,
I have this lovely Freehand 8 eps that is not going into Quark well at all. It looks pixelated onscreen, and prints the same way. I am working on a PC, have tried saving it in multiple forms and fashions in both Freehand and Photoshop...nothing works. I suspect it is a printer problem, because normally I don't have trouble getting Freehand stuff into Quark. Any ideas?

What kind of printer do you have?

You could also try changing the frequancy. Go to print, output tab change to 150 lpi, and change resolution to 1270 as well. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

I have the same problem. I tried different format of files, they all showed up like a low resolution bitmap. There should be something wrong on the import function.

Quark looks and prints pixelated, all the time. Reason is: To make quark the fastest layout-tool around, you are only allowed to watch the low-res preview TIFF's representing the actual EPS-file. A smooth result, with the actual EPS printed, is only aquired on a PostScript printer. And these printers tend to be very expensive...

The new Adobe InDesign has features that let you watch the actual "high-res" EPS-files, but this requires its fair share of computer power.

Workaround: See the article "expoort to photoshop?" by manic. You might use the same procedure. I use Adobe Distiller to see my previews before sending my work to the printers, but using quark previews ... not nice. Looking forward to migrating to InDesign :)

You are right. I just did a test. It prints to a PostScript printer nicely. Well, I like InDesign more than Quark. Since Quark has more choices on XTensions than the plug-ins for InDesign, we switched to Quark recently. Sad!
