Free transform won't work

I used to be able to do ctrl+t and do the free transform in illustrator 10, but it dosn't work anymore. I'm not really familiar with all the toggles, so I think I may have turned off some features without realizing it.

E is free transform in Illy.

I figured that out later by searching through the keyboard shortcut settings. Items used to automatically come up with the free transform box up when I selected them though

That's because you have the Bounding Box switched off.

View>Show Bounding Box to turn it back on then the Selection Tool will also work as transform.
