We have recently Migrated our mail server from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003. We created a new server with Exchange 2003 on and moved all the mailboxes across leaving the redudant Exchaneg 2000 on. Since doing this clients have started getting "Unable to update Free/busy" error

OK, give this a try.

1. At the Exchange Server computer, start the Exchange Server Administrator program.
2. Click to expand Folders.
3. Click to expand System Folders.
4. Click to expand Schedule+ Free/Busy.
5. Click the folder for the server or site that is in question, and on the File menu, click Properties.
6. Click the General tab, and then click Client Permissions.
7. Under Default, click Role of Editor, and then click OK.
8. Click OK.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

We had a similar issue with one of our users trying to change her auto-reply to meeting appointments. Free / busy came up in my research so I'd figure I'd throw this in there to see if it helps you. My user was getting an error when she tried to open the clickbox where you change the auto accept options.

Open your users' active directory properties. Since you have changed servers, you might have changed server names as well.

Click on the exchange advanced tab, and on the very bottom it says which administrative group the user is tied to. If it is showing an old or retired server name that doesnt exist anymore, try wiping out the account and recreate it. Once re-created, the group should show the new and correct name.
