I'm curious, is it possible to build your own
frame relay cloud?
I would think so but it would be really expensive.
Besides the fact that you would have to knowledge
to setup it up and all, but is it possible?

it's possible.. all u need is to designate a cisco router as a frame relay switch, find a way to connect it to the other, which is back to back serial in most cases, and u have a frame relay cloud..

long distance frame relay is where u typically need to use a telco.. with a frame relay switch...

good luck..

Adtran sells a box that can act as a frame-relay switch.
You can use it in real world or simulation activities.
It will connect multiple T1's/FT1's from remote sites
into a host unit acting as the switch. They sell a couple
of different units, one the Atlas 550.

the adtran is a heavy duty machine and somewhat expensive.
What I want to know is, lets say i get an adtran: atlas 550
how would the outer\remote offices connected to the main office to the adtran. They still would have to connect to another company that provides frame relay, is that correct?
Ex: Central(main FR)------{FR cloud}-----Remote office
Wouldn't it be cheaper and the same thing if a company provides the frame relay instead of you buying an adtran.

The only benifit of having a Adtran as I see it is that
you have your own frame relay cloud and ultimate Bandwidth.
