Fractional T1?

We have an office with a Merlin Legend/Magix r7.0, with a single T1 (PRI) for all calls. Any reason why I can't use half of a T1 for data (frame relay) and the other half for voice? The DS1 card is a DS1 100 517E15

The Legend will work with a fractional T1. You just need to take out the unused b channels assigned under PRI as well as unassign the unused lines for the PRI. You need to also take the unused lines out of the pool.

Your T-1 supplier will also charge for the change, most likely, and there can be some type of charge for not using all voice, etc. You'll have to get a CSU/DSU to split the signal upstrream of the4 T-1 card, assuming you have an external CSU or CSU/DSU now. The 24the chanel will be set as data, if the CSU is Paradyne. Don't be surprised if your supplier wants to begin the entire process with a "new" PRI.
