FR (Financial Reporter)

I have worked with FR a few times before but this is somewhat strange error. Hope someone could please help me.

I have two expense accounts and both of them have a debit balance.
=FRAMT("ABAL12P.2008",account no) on one of them gives a negative balance and on another a positive balance.

I am bafled/confused/scared.

Please help if you can and I would be very grateful.

I am using excel 2007 & Accpac 500 5.4a

A better option if to use the FRAMTA function instead of FRAMT.

FRAMTA gives you postives for debits and negatives for credits, always.
FRAMT looks at the GL account setting for normal balance. If the normal balance is Debit then debit balances give you postives and credit balances gives you negatives. If the normal balance is Credit then the signs are switched, debit balances gives you negatives and credit balances gives you positives.

If you take a look at the GL accounts you will see that the normal balance settings are different. Did you ever wonder what that was for?

Confused, scared? Then use FRAMTA.
