Trying to continue closed thread: thread182-1392902 .

I too am getting the Error 10037: Unexpected EOF while connecting to SS2K, although I was able to connect to SS7. I'd really like to fix this and make the connection, and also to Oracle and mySQL at some point.
I'll continue beating my head against this. This thread to helps with its notion of recompiling DB-Library. I've gone all the way back to Sybase stuff, and I'm also eyeing FreeTDS with some hope. Be glad to collaborate on this if anyone's interested.

Foxpro for MS-DOS Foxpro for DOS, FPD ...

"I'll continue beating my head against this..."

Why bother?

Most of us who have had a LOT of experience with FP and, at one time, seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about it, have now been away from it SO LONG that it is difficult for us to help you out.

You would be MUCH better off, upgrading to VFP9 rather than trying to make a VERY, VERY old product (FPD) work with tools that are WAY past the time when they were supported (more than a decade past?).

Your conversion time and the resultant ease of using today's tools would more than make up for the headaches you will encounter by "beating your head" as a result of staying with your current version of Foxpro.

And, from a business perspective, the net time and man-hour cost to convert will be significantly lower than trying to 'shoe-horn' OLD, OLD technology into today's world.

Heck, even if you do somehow get things working today, tomorrow's changes will again put you back into the same bind.

Regardless of your decision - Good Luck,

Sorry, I should have been more clear. We have this running in DOSEMU on a Linux box, and it runs very quickly and reliably. Our old SBT application has been highly modified for over 19 years, and porting it to VFP9 would take a very long time.
In DOSEMU we can run in a DOS window on 98/2K/XP/Vista via Samba, or in an ssh terminal directly on the server. This is in production and much faster. DOSEMU has recently added a Java applet that will let you run your application natively in a web browser. Try doing THAT with VFP!
The client has a highly customized system that runs very well, but we're trying to take the next step and connect to MS SQL/mySQL/Oracle ...
So anyhow, I've looked at a lot of options and this one still looks attractive, considering that the FPD talks to SQL Server anyhow. I'm set to go but just having problems with the final debugging.
Thanks for your reply. It certainly echoes some of what I've been thinking.
