FP vs Dreamweaver

I've been a FrontPage user for a few years now but now have been asked to have a look at Dreamweaver. I've not used Dreamweaver but thought there may be some opinions one way or the other. Does anyone have strong feelings one way or the other - pro or con?

Dreamweaver seems to be the choice of lots of people. I've just downloaded the trial version and will give it a try!

Totally different animals.

DreamWeaver is a professional tool that can produce standards compliant, robust code.
Frontpage is a MicroSoft nightmarish interpretation of the web where it has to be done MicroSoft's way. Quite frankly, it's an amateur's tool.

Don't get me wrong, it's still possible to make a mess with Dreamweaver. But the option is there to do things "properly"!

Homesite is a great tool for actually writing code, it's what I use on everything I do. But for a WYSIWYG, Dreamweaver is probably the best I've seen. Compared to it, FrontPage is a child's toy.

As information Homesite 5.5 is included on the Dreamweaver MX 2004 disk.

As stated there is no comparison between the two. Dreamweaver is hands down the superior.

There are other options out there but none as solid and professional as Dreamweaver.
If you can, just try something as simple as writing a 'hello' page on both programs. Save them and then open both on a regular text editor (Notepad will do).
Check the code and be amazed. FP is not even at the same level of DWMX. Actually we should be telling you that FP is the best so we get less competition. Weird how things work out sometimes........
