hi,
I am trying to seperate first names from the last names, which is located on the same field and place them into a new field on the same table.Does any know how to do this?

thanks

If you know that each name is only one word, it's actually pretty easy, but in the real world, you have names like "Van Dyke" and "Jim Bob" that make it harder.

Mike Feltman had a good article about this in FoxPro Advisor in Feb. 1999.

thanks,
the Thread184-567614 worked.

gdefne, Also take a look at FAQ481-4875 regarding selecting Topic descriptions for posts.

Gdefne,

I'm pleased that you found a solution in this forum.

To make life easier for other forum members who might be interested in this discussion, in future could you please select a more descriptive title for your threads. Using "Foxpro 9" as the heading says absolutely nothing about the contents of the thread.

Mike
