hi there,
we have Citrix XPe FR1 on Windows 2000 SP2 german.
Now, one published app uses a FoxPro database over ODBC.
If an user opens this app and walks away, after several minutes a FoxPro error appears and you have to close the app and reopen it.
If this error occures often in short time the database gets corrupt.

has anybody a idea?
i would be really happy of any solutions or tips!

regards
Ralf

How is the Foxpro app setting up the temp files? We had some that hard code the temp variable to a specific folder instead of the windows temp setting. We had to have the programmers rewrite the code to use %temp% instead of the specific directory because in Metaframe and multiple users they would all be trying to write to the same temp file and you would get a syserror.

Hi JON,
every user has his own temp-directory on his home-drive.
So, this should not be the problem.
Any other idea?

Ralf

While I'm not sure this is your problem, what I meant was where foxpro writes it's temp files to. If the code uses a specific path such as "c:\winnt\temp" or "c:\windows\temp" then the temp variable will not matter. If that is the case all the users will be trying to write to the same files and it will fail. Check with the programmer to see if he uses the temp variable or has it hard coded.

Might be an obvious questions, but have you run the ODBC Application compatibilty script ? I had a student who had a similar problem, which was fixed after running the script.

Might be worth a try.

Peter

Hi Peter,
i haven't run any ODBC Application compatibilty script.
Can you tell me, where i can find it?

Ralf
