I have having a bear of a time running 2.6 on my XP box. I've installed it and when I run it i got a divide by zero error. I did some research and found a patch that takes care of that. Now instead of an error, I get a flicker, and thats all. The splash screen flickers for about 1 sec, then goes away and I'm looking at my desktop. Any one know of the solution????

Thanks a ton

What speed processor are you running? Does an .EXE created earlier on another machine run? In other words, is it just the IDE, or is it the runitme also?

Rick

Its just the IDE. I don't use foxPro to program, just to set up my tables. I program in VB.

The processor is 3 gigs

Thanks for any insight.

Well it's been reported that 3.0+ gHz machines have exposed another speed problem. I can't confirm that since my normal machine is only 2.0 gHz (although a dual processor), but I have used machines up to 2.8 gHz.

If this really is a problem, then it's unlikely that MS will fix it - it was tough enough to get them to fix the 300 mHz barrier back in 1998!

If you just use the IDE, have you considered updating to VFP. The free public beta for VFP 9.0 is still available and good till the end of March.

Another possibility is to use Virtual PC (or VM Ware
) to run it under that. Even if you just loaded up a minimal configuration of any Windows OS (including what you are currently running), that might slow it down enough to get it to work!

Hi,
This error can be corrected using an upgrade. I forgot the address where i downloaded it but i do have the upgrade files on my pc. Give me your email address and i will send u these files.

James.

James,
Are you sure these aren't the "old" fast CPU patches - either the official MS one or the DZPATCH? I don't believe these will help this "new" problem.

Rick

I read RGBEAN statement concerning possible 3.0 Ghz problems. I am looking to buy a new computer running at 3.0 ghz and would like to know about this possible speed problem. I still do a lot of work in fpw 2.6a and do not want to upgrade to a computer that can not run fpw 2.6a. Thank you for your help
