I have a PRI with a number programmed to it, i need this number forwarded to another location where I have some analogue lines, is this possible, i mean without porting it over to the new location, is it possible to have those calls routed straight out of IPO to the new number without needing a phone set up, and unconditional forward on?

Also I have a IPO 406 at one location and a 500 at another, all in the same subnet, can these be linked together? They are within a mile from each other, the new IPO 500 will be using analogue lines and IP phones, which it uses now with the 406 but it isnt working well because they are down the road a ways and the Voip isnt working well enough. I would still like to be able to 4 digit dial to the other phones on the old 406 in the main facility from the 500, but not sure if it is possible. I was planning on just taking them off of it all together, but i dont think that is possible.

This is why i ask about the forward, making sure that im not missing anything.

Thanks

Any help is most appreciated!

If the number you want forwarding is the only number on the PRI, then get the telco to do it for you. Otherwise, the IPO can do it. There are various ways to sort it. Either way, you will pay for the forwarded section of every call that passes through. If this is to be permanent, I would try port the number over.

The 2 systems can be linked together by VOIP. You will need VCM's in both locations (Should have these already on the 500 as you have IP Phones) and some licenses on the 500. Although you say "VOIP is working well enough" so I would be careful with this if your network isn't up to it!

Have a think about which way you want to go and we can help some more.

Yes both the 406 and the 500 have a vcm, but im not quite sure how to do this. Im new to these installs and all my avaya training isnt complete. But since the network is having trouble ill probably pass on linking the two up together, since this would be the whole issue to begin with. Which licenses would i need on the 500 for linking them?

If i wanted to just leave that number on the existing 406 and have it forwarded unconditionally, would i just create a phantom ext and have UF on? that is how i planned on doing it.

Thanks

That would work for forwarding the calls.

The 500 would Networking licenses. They come 4 channels at a time. The 406 doesn't need these licenses.

If you are concerned about the n/w at all, stay clear of linkning the 2! Get the network sorted and then it's dead easy.

If networking is a problem then how about routing the number to a shortcode that dials the second system via the telco lines. It shows an error in the programming, but it works great. Just create a short code containg the second IPO number (NXX-NXX-XXXX if US), then pint the incomming call route from the first IPO to the second. I use this a lot for medical offices that want to use answering services.
