We just installed a BCM 400 and it is very new to me. I have been working with avaya for the last seven years, so please bear with me.

We have the BCM(we are using digital only) set up with a PRI that is connected to a second VOIP system(IP Phones...not a Nortel). We have it set up with an access code of 7 to jump to the secondary system. My dilemma is that we have about 85 numbers that are going to ride on the dialtone PRI that is going into the BCM that need to be automatically forwarded to the secondary system.
Example:

I'm ext 8300(NOT a physical extension) and I need my DID to come across the PRI, hit the BCM and be programmed so that it automatically goes to the secondary (voip) system. So ideally, I need to program "Forward: 78300" and have it jump to the secondary system. We are receiving 4 digits. Is this even possible? Thanks in advance.

Jim

Go to the specified target line and look for "redirect to." Can't remember exactly where but it's definitely under which ever target line you're looking to forward In that box enter access code then the DN of the set on the other system. Using your example enter 78300.

How are these systems tied together will depend on how to handle the digits.

We are having problems getting the two switches to talk. There are no error lights on the BCM. When we dial the access code of "7", it says on the display of the Nortel phone "No Available Lines". Not sure what to try next.
We have tried several protocols and timing settings. The Nortel needs to be the clock source for the secondary system. We have disabled the CSU and that didn't do anything either. Any Ideas? Thx

Jim

Looks like when you say a voip system you mean just another phone system that the two are tied togher with a pri.
If that is the case you do not use access codes you use destination codes and routes under dialing plan. a dest. code can be the extentions lead digit absorb zero then attach a route to it. bulid a route say 002 pri-a.Then in sets allow access to pri-a.Also use the BCM monitor to see the digits being dialed. The other side needs to be reciving the same amount of digits.

Dasheen,
Thank you,,,,the redirect works fine.

Cook, they are tied together with a T1/PRI crossover cable via their respective PRI ports. The second system is in fact a VOIP system with offsite locations scattered throughout the city. However, that is no longer an issue, as we were able to overcome it. We can now access each others switches. We had to make the Nortel the slave instead of the master.

The next fun item is the seemingly impossible night service.
For some reason, we are not able to activate the night service manually. We get "access Denied" when we push the designated button for nights. When i go to the tables to program the scheduled times for nights to come on through the Call Pilot Manager, I see a check box that says "disable DN dialing". According to the documentation for Call Pilot, clicking this check box for the respective schedule will make the call go immediately to the target greeting as opposed to ringing the designated number of times scheduled in the table programming. However when I click this check box, nothing changes at all. When I go to Element manager/scheduled services and set the night ringing to "manual", the program accepts the entry, but I am still not able to activate the night service manually. This is EXTREMELY important to this customer. sorry for the long post but Im sure that there is more to come given the way this thing has begun.

Jim

DN dialing just keeps you from dialing thru to extentions and you have to listen to the greeting.
For night service to be activated manualy by a set
You need to build a ring group usually # 2 then the lines control set has to be the set that is controling night.

...and you need to assign the Callpilot DN to ring grp 2 so calls will go directly to the AA at night when night service is enabled.

We have tried every possible combination to make it work and it simply won't work. My co-worker has been working on MICS/CICS for years and he says that it is programmed correctly. The vm DN is in the Ring group as well as the control set(ext. 8303). The main number is being sent to us as 8300. There are several line appearances on 8303 for DN 8300. The calls ring in fine, it's just the night service will not work correctly.

I just caught wind of a patch that may need to be uploaded to BCM. Has anyone heard of this patch?

Remove 8303 from ring grp 2. The only DN listed should be the Callpilot DN.

I also have a BCM 400 that is doing the same thing. I can assign one of the analog lines in ringing service and it works fine, but if I try a virtual line it comes back "denied in admin" when I press the sevices button.

telpro,
Have you made sure that the phone you are using is set up as a Controll Set. because you will get that message if not. also make sure that the virtual line is not set up as a Private line.

We spent last saturday loading 6 different patches to the "new" bcm400. I find it difficult to believe that 100MB of patches are needed on a new install, but HEY...who am I?

Anyway, after installing the patches, the night service button worked fine. Thanks for everyones input....im sure you'll be hearing from me soon.

Go buy a copy of Windows XP, Vista, 2k3 or Apple OSX, load it and then run the update function and see how many mb of patches are required....

Why should a phone system be ANY different?
