Best way, get Centrex service from the phone company.
Otherwise, Release 6 and above, program an extension with Remote Call Forward, set the specific number, forward the extension, and transfer the call to that extension.
Unfortunately they do not have Centrex service in the area where were have the Partner system. Does the remote call forward allow the user to answer the call and then to forward the call if they want? We want the user to be able to answer and to forward if they need instead of the extension forwarding the phone automaticaly. Thanks again!
Without centrex, you cannot directly transfer a call off site. You would need to do as TTT has said and set an extension to remote call forward to a specific number and then transfer those calls to that extension. It's a limitation of the Partner.
Telecomboy, I understand that setting the remote call forward will work only to forward calls automatically. So when somebody call an extension it will forward the call inmediately to the programmed outside number, right? I don't think it will allow the user to answer and then to transfer the call. Am I correct? Thanks again!
Who is your Telco service provider? There is a standalone feature called "CALL TRANSFER DISCONNECT", that some Telcos offer on lines not part of Centrex served from 5ESS or DMS10/100 switches. Pacific Bell in California offers the feature on a per line basis.
It works the same as any "hookflash tranfer". You hookflash the line, you get stutter dialtone, punch in the number you want to call; the line rings; you can hangup or wait for the party to answer, announce the call, then hangup. The call is transferred. The line is now free for another call.
On the Partner phones you would program a RECALL button which performs the "hookflash" function when pressed. On a single line set you can use the regular hookswitch for flashing.
I have setup an outside line on an extension and I want to be able to easily transfer calls to this outside number but not all calls that come into our phone system need to be transferred to this number. I’m wondering if this recall button will be the solution but when I tested the recall button (already setup) on my phone, nothing happened. I have no type of IT/phone system experience so please excuse me if this has been answered but this phone stuff is Greek to me and I almost have to have stuff explained to me like I’m a small child. I appreciate any assistance with this.
Jim, I really have no idea. Unfortunately I'm not a professional and would very much love to hire a professional to do this but I guess that isn't an option. Anyway, from what I've gathered from other posts, the recall function and the external call forward aren't an option unless we have Centrex or a higher version software. Our current version is R2. I'm not sure how to know if our lines are analogue or not. Thank you for your response.
