To All Avaya Gurus,

Fairly new to Avaya systems. Wondering how can I setup one of internal extension (ex: 4676) to ring at external phone (ex: 91 770-456-3254) and when the user do not answer, then the external system voice mail should respond (not internal system).

(I tried call forwarding but after certain rings, the
internal voice mail still picksup). System: Avaya Definity.

History: 4676 is at one of our remote offices (ip phone) and we already have the calls from external/outside forwarded to external number via the carrier.

Thank you in advnace

You probably want to use a remote coverage point.

Enter the command:

change coverage remote (you may need to do a table number too)

Put a phone number (remember to put in a '9' if necessary) and note the number of the table entry.

In the coverage path put in "r" followed by the number of the table entry. If it were table entry 12, the coverage point would be "r12".

Thank you for the reply. So this does not need any kid of route pattern creation.. something like.. when system sees 4676, the strip the 4 digits and insert 91 770-456-3254 etc..?

Nope.

The remote coverage point becomes just like any other coverage point (like an extension on your system).

You just have to put in the destination as the system would dial it to reach the cell phone.

You'd assign the coverage path to extension 4676, and you're done.

Hi, Thank you for all the information. We call forwarded the internal extension to the new (external) number and removed the coverage path for internal extension totally (which looks to be internal voice mail). Now after few rings the external voice mail picksup. Thanks alot for your tips. Also, another question... when I do "list Coverage path':

Path no point1
1 h1
2 h1
20 h1

How can I find the full details of 'h1' (ex: it may be pointing to Voice mail, but what command to see the config relates to the same).

Thank you in advance

Just type:

display hunt-group 1

You're probably right that it's the hunt group for the ports on your voicemail.

Perfect. Thank you.Apologies, I should have asked this in the last thread- the coverage path output

Path no point1
1 h1
2 h1
20 h1
900 r900
901 r901
902 r902

What is 'r' and how to display the info. I tired dispaly remote-office and remote-access- no luck.

Thank you in advance

Those r### entries will be the Coverage Remote entries. You can do a 'display coverage remote' to see the list. If it comes back with a 'Identifier invalid ' add a 1 to the command, 1-1000 are in group 1, so it would be 'display coverage remote 1'.
