All,

What is the best way to forward incoming mail for a particular user to an external email address?? This was easy to do in 5.5, but seems a bit messy in 2000.

Thanks.

I believe you have to set up a Contact in AD Users and Computers...Then you can use that Contact as the forwarding address.... AJ

I tried this, but when selecting the forward to option on the Exchange General tab, the directory listing does not have the contact i set up.

I do beleive this is the path to go down, so i'll keep investigating... thanks for your input.

Best regards.

I have found a way to do this.

It requires that you set up a rule in Outlook (and hold on the server) to forward mail to the contact set up in AD Users.

This is a little messy but it works......

You shouldn't have to do that, however :)

Setting up a separate contact for the external mail address and then forwarding the user's mailbox messages to that contact, from within the Delivery Options in Active Directory on the user's properties should work. When you did this, did you allow time for the change to replicate to all of your domain controllers?

Take Care :)

Yup, i was getting a little excited!! I didn't wait long enough for the object to replicate...

Looks ok now though. I thought the outlook solution was a little messy, and was sure the contact object was the route to go down.

Patience is a virtue!!

Thanks for your help!!

Regards,

Nelv :)
